What if we changed the world to
support every child,
instead of demanding each
child change to fit the world?
OUR MISSION
At Camp SkyWild, we are designing a world that better fits all kids. We are building overnight summer camp spaces for kids on the autism spectrum to be in their element, able to access the same exciting recreational programming available to their peers with added supports and accommodations in place for them to thrive. We aim to inspire folks across all youth development professions to reinvent the way we celebrate our kids’ differences and build spaces that encourage them to stay wild.
Camp Skywild is a sleepaway camp designed for
autistic children and their siblings in Michigan

OUR CAMP
Our programs have been designed to meet a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive needs because we believe that summer camp is a valuable experience for everyone. We appreciate the diversity of background, ability, health needs, and home lives of our campers and our staff and strive everyday to make camp a safe environment in which our campers can laugh, learn, and play. We believe that all kids shine brighter when they build lasting friendships and feel like they belong to a community that sees them as more than the challenges they face.
SkyWild campers shoot archery, go canoeing, tie dye t-shirts, go fishing, roast smores, sing, dance, swim in the lake, and so much more! We understand that each camper needs unique support in order to access our program, so we run extensive staff training, operate flexible programming, and maintain low staff ratios. Our daily schedule is highly structured and predictable to ease camper anxiety around what's coming next, but remains adaptable in a "challenge by choice" nature so that campers can engage in the ways that feel best for them.
At Camp SkyWild, our focus is on fun and connection. Campers have an incredible time because the activities are tailored towards their interests and adjusted to their needs. Our staff are skilled in facilitating relationship building , and they support and encourage kids while they try new things. Summer camp can be formative, and we want all kids to experience the benefits of an incredible week with friends!
