Camp

Spring 2025 Dates coming soon!

Families of neurodivergent children often experience isolation, particularly when their children are not yet school-aged, have high support needs, or require constant care and supervision. Our Family Camp is designed specifically with these challenges in mind, providing a space where all families—regardless of their children's age or level of need—can come together and connect.

At Family Camp, our main goal is to foster community and create fun, inclusive experiences for the entire family. We welcome families with young children, those with adult children, and everyone in between. We are especially proud to offer a supportive environment for families with autistic adults, who often have limited opportunities for connection and recreation.

Through a variety of accessible activities and resources, Family Camp offers a place where every family member, regardless of age or ability, can participate, find joy, and build lasting relationships in a judgment-free environment.

Family camp fAQs

  • We don't have any for this type of camp! The whole family is welcome to attend!

  • Pricing depends on type of lodging and number of participants, as well as our host facility. While these numbers are subject to change, here are the prices from our 2024 Fall Family Camp:

    • Private lodge (up to 5 people): $1000, $200 per additional person after 5

    • Shared lodge: $200 per person

    • Private bunkhouse room with ensuite bathroom (up to 3 people): $600

  • Because parents attend with and are responsible for their children for a large majority of the program, we have more flexibility with our independence requirements. Independent toileting and showering are not required for participation in family camp programs. Parents will also be responsible for behavior management during the camp program. Our only requirement is that all members of our community feel safe at camp; therefore, individuals who regularly display aggression toward others are likely not a good fit for this program.

  • The same way they work at home! You'll be responsible for administering all of your child's medications and you will keep those medications with your personal belongings.

Please note that Camp SkyWild will not have medical personnel on site for Family Camp weekends.

  • Our Fall 2024 Family Camp was hosted by North Star Reach in Pinckney, MI. NSR is less than 10 years old, so while it was built to look rustic, it's actually in great shape and isn't rustic at all. North Star Reach traditionally has hosted summer camp programs for children with severe medical needs, so the facility is state-of-the-art and accessible. You can watch a video tour here, but please note that some of the info is specific to NSR's own programming and won't apply to our family camp.

  • Menus are finalized closer to Family Camp weekends, but typically involve crowd-pleasers like eggs, bacon, and pancakes for breakfast, tacos or pizza for lunch, and spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. There is always a salad bar, lots of options for picky eaters, and accommodations for dietary restrictions!

  • We never want finances to be a barrier to participation in our camp programs, so we fundraise all year to provide scholarships for families. Financial aid is available on a sliding scale and a first come, first served basis for Family Camp weekends.
