We know that Halloween can be tricky for people with autism: there are lots of unspoken rules (like how much candy to take, which homes to visit, etc.), unusual sights, sounds and smells, and sometimes sensory overload because of itchy costumes. Our Halloween Party is a chance for everyone to practice all the Halloween routines in a safe environment, and to have some holiday fun with camp friends and staff.
Schedule
1p Arrival and check in
1:30p Trick or Treat
2p Halloween party with carnival games and snacks
Brookhaven Manor is a retirement community in Ann Arbor, MI with apartments all in enclosed interior hallways, making this a great and safe space to practice trick-or-treating. Participating residents will be given a battery operated light to hang outside their front door that signals they are a home for trick-or-treaters to visit. We will have a party set up in one of the community rooms for gathering before and after trick-or-treating ends.
NOTE: Parents/caregivers are required to attend this event with their children. SkyWild volunteers will be present to help facilitate activities but are not responsible for supervision.
